A woman’s richly bejewelled hand and embroidered sleeve shows the viewer what happens to anyone who exchanges true emotions for money
Beautiful amber leaves form a cage around the hand, latching onto the jewels with a chain made of stems. The beauty of the leaves draws attention away from their true nature. Each link of the chain tightens around the fingers, creating decorations that prevent the hand from moving and living freely.
The hand is sculpted in plaster and the sleeve is designed with oriental decorations and Arabic-style jewelry. The technique used is lost wax and gilded the sleeved decorations and jewelry. The leaves are made with a lampworking technique linked by copper branches.
