God (Khoda)

This Murrina blends traditional Persian art with Venetian glassmaking, forming a tribute to Persian calligraphy through the divine name ‘KHODA’. Against a black background, the white script is outlined in gold to convey spirituality, while the cobalt blue and aquamarine scalloped border reflects Persian illuminated manuscripts. Technically, the micro-cavities within the piece would typically require a secondary kiln firing to be eliminated by reheating and pressing each element with tweezers. However, I intentionally preserved these bubbles, transforming them into a conceptual representation of stars and galaxies in the cosmos. Persian calligraphy often carries profound spiritual meaning; utilizing glass offers a contemporary interpretation of this ancient heritage, adding a brand-new dimension to a traditional practice
